That would suck major dong.
I just have a feeling that this is our year against tu.
IF, I stress IF we lose wouldn't that make it the longest losing streak against them?

It will be interesting to see who the Alamo takes, us or Tech.

actually, a loss to the sips would put us in a tie for 3rd in the south division.

Does it go by conference record or overall record?
KCAggie
11-18-2006, 06:23 PM
I think it is conference record, so even though we would be tied, I think tech would get third with their victory over us.

Yeah conference record and since they beat us heads up they'd be 3rd and A&M 4th.

as far as the alamo potentially picking btwn us and tceh, i think it would be a no brainer for them to pick us. at least they know by picking aTm, the game will be a sell out no matter what. the same can not be said by picking tceh. of course bowls look at what team's fans travel well, but that is even more the case with the alamo this year b/c they do not have a game sponsor like they have had in previous years. it will be all about which school can sell the most # of tickets for revenue.

No we lost 10 in a row from 57-66
Longest streak without beating them is 11 from 40-50 with a tie coming in 1948

The Alamo has a history of picking the most deserving team. If we are 4th and Tech is 3rd, history says they will pick Tech.
Tech can sell out the Alamodome. That isn't an issue.

well then if they have a history of picking the most deserving team.... is 7-5 tceh more deserving than 8-4 aTm (i am only saying we will be 8-4 b/c the thread title)? if that really is the case, i still do not see the alamo picking tceh over us.

3 losses to ranked teams by a total difference of 6 points.
were our losses last year to ranked teams.....Nope
were our losses last year by a total difference of less than 10 points..Nope
so yes this season was a progress season....not the greatest season but a progress season in the right direction

Yes..... but it is important to note that his infamous list of "milestone failures" put us in a position to where things can only get better. Success is then taken out of context and perspective.

Excellent post GSZ94....as soon as I can, you get more rep. The one thing that everyone always ignores is that this year is seen as progress because Fran took us to such depths in the past that there was only one way to go....I mean for example, how much worse can you be on pass defense than last?

well, he might have taken us to a place where we couldn't get any worse, but we could sure as hell of stayed there instead of improving.

True, but the instinctive motive of "self-preservation" tends to make more positive things happen. Unfortunately in these cases, any trend of improvement usually includes a ceiling or plateau. :bored:

Great point, Tro!
As long as the ball goes between the uprights, the sky is the limit. Unfortunately, you can't win many games when the opponent scores touchdowns in response.
P.S. Did you like that I used underline instead of bold?

Ahhh yes...Rep from another name changer...nice, that should make you proud...
Can you document somewhere this list that you seem to be working into every thread of "milestone failures"...I'm sure you can get rep from Boozin/moth for that, unless he has been banned AGAIN...

If you are suggesting that Gravy and I are the same person, that is simply not true. You get the :stupid: for that.
This may sound novel, but someone my actually agree with what you have to say.

I've actually enjoyed having a team that actually has a chance game in and game out to win. I've hated the last second losses (hell any loss). So I'm pissed our record isn't better but I'm not ready to flush the coaching staff becuase of 3 losses by a total of 10 points.
They're losses and a loss is a loss. But the wins are wins and you can't argue one without arguing th other.
I say we see how the staff does to close out the year and make next year the make or break year though I think with a successful close to this year that will be a moot point.
That's it for me on this subject as well.

Win or lose, we are going to the Holiday bowl. OU or Texas will win the Big 12 Chamionship. Loser of the Big 12 Championship goes to Cotton. OU/Texas that does not make the conference championship goes to Gator. We go to Holiday. Don't worry about the Alamo.

We will draw lots more people than Tech. Plus, Tech has been to the Holiday recently, we have not.
