Upon being hired by Texas A&M, Franchione brought his entire coaching staff to College Station with him for the 2003 season, in which the Aggies finished 4-8. This season also included the worst loss out of more than 1100 games played by Texas A&M, a 77-0 defeat to Oklahoma. It was the school's first losing season since 1982. The team improved to 7-5 in 2004, but the season ended bitterly in a 38-7 loss to Tennessee (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Tennessee) in the Cotton Bowl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cotton_Bowl_%28game%29). Because of his team's improvement, Franchione was a finalist for the BCPC Association's Coach of the Year Award. Torbush was replaced by former Western Michigan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Michigan_University) head coach Gary Darnell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Darnell). While hiring Darnell has proven to be a success in 2006, Franchione's play calling has come into question. On three separate occasions, Franchione opted not to put the ball in the hands of the 274 lb. runningback Jorvorskie Lane with third and two inside the opponents five yard line. On a side note, Lane is perfect in converting short yardage third and fourth downs in Big XII play.
While Franchione had success in his previous coaching assignments, his ability to perform at Texas A&M has come into question recently, due to multiple losses in key games. In his four years as head Coach at Texas A&M, Franchione has led the Aggies to an unimpressive record. In the Big XII South, he is 7-12 to include 0 wins over Oklahoma, and rival Texas. Franchione's Big XII record is 14-16, which has led many to call for his termination as Head Coach. In contrast to the last four seasons of his predecessor, R.C. Slocum, Frachione's record shows a downward trend in conference and division play. In Slocum's last four seasons, the Aggies went 16-15 in Big XII play, and 10-10 in the South. While Slocum's last years are only slightly better, Franchione has done nothing to improve the state of his football team. Clearly, his reputation as a 'turn-around' coach has not followed him while serving as head coach of Texas A&M.

Defending me? I brought in an outside source that doesn't agree with the blind faith that some follow fran with and people get all worked up. I need no defending attack wiki if you want to attack someone.

Love is blind, and Fran Lovers refuse to see the truth. Anytime someone, regardless of whether they're affiliated with Texas A&M or not, has anything objective to say, or write, about Fran that is not 100% sunshine and roses, the "Defenders of Fran" feel the need to refute the facts. They then accuse anyone who has different opinions of "hijacking" the thread.

OK...once again...I dont know him, like him, dislike him, defend him, attack him, or whatever....this issue is "what is best for A&M"...that is to wait until the end of the season and evaluate what took place...the problem with all of this is the fact that your liberal anti-Aggie media takes this and rolls with it...then, recruting is affected, players are affected, etc.

SA makes good arguements, Pum, makes good arguements, Pfleuger makes good arguements...Vly makes them, Tro makes them...it's all good discussion until somebody comes in with something like this...Nobody knows what the right answer is because the season isnt finished yet...how about we fill another 300 threads with hypotheticals??

For anyone who thinks that no progress has been made with Aggie Football over the last 3 years, you havent been watching the same games I have been watching...Can Fran take A&M to a MNC? I dont know any more that tu knew before after many seasons in austin, mack finally won his MNC soon after he won his FIRST EVER conference championship...

now before SA, Moth, Hmiles, GZ, etc. gets on me for comparing Mack and Fran and brings out the Wiki proving they are two different guys in different places, I'm not comparing the two PEOPLE, just the fact that nobody KNEW when he would win it but they stuck with him and he brought home the crystal...

FOR THE RECORD, my "this thread sucks" is how i feel. i am not saying that objective opinions should not be posted or that those facts aren't true. I AM saying that there is not really a need to post 10,000 threads posting similar info and talking about Fran's "failures".

I FOR ONE understand that some of y'all don't like Fran and I think everyone else on this board knows who is giving Fran till the end of the season and who has already given up on him. Making endless numbers of threads stating Fran's stats and that he should be fired accomplishes nothing. Go sign a petition or give some money to A&M for them to fire Fran.

I have been watching the games that we have all been watching. And as exciting, frustrating, boring, motivating as any or all of them may be at times....no progress has been made other than the progressive manner in which ticket prices have been raised.

Here's to Fran! Other than Billy, he is the biggest reason Aggie basketball has gotten interesting.

Like Tro said.... we know how you feel, we now how gregh, moth, booz all feel..... after 11 weeks your message hasn't changed... any stats from 2005, 2004, & 2003 haven't changed....

If ya'll want to continue banging your head against the wall, knock yourselves out.... But when we bring up anything, it's normally new, & normally about something currently going on....

Bringing up Fran's record is like bringing up how SA gave up on A&M on 4th & 13 at Oklahoma State...... No matter how often I bring that up, it never changed the fact it happened & it shows how much faith SA has in the TEAM.... Because honestly in that game, it had nothing to do with Fran or Les' play calling, it had nothing to do with the Offense at all... the Defense had a bad game & when nothing was there for anyone to bash Fran for, people gave up on the TEAM all together... Because I know for a fact SA was not the ONLY ONE TO DO THIS.....

Yeah, yeah.... you don't get 2 mill or whatever... fact is.... I haven't seen this team give up on Fran & I haven't seen Fran give up on this team.... because evidently.... all they have is each other.....

I will say this also.... the future of this site looks worst & worst.... :sad:

I was curious if maybe 1 day out of 2 weeks this site could go without sarcasm about Fran or a negative thread bringing up the same stats that had been brought up since the Maroon & White game this year.... Obviously not.

You would think with Men's Basketball team being ranked, the Aniv of the Bonfire, that something going on would deviate 1 day from this never ending discusion that never changes....

One guy posts a positive link, the next guy posts a negative link, each to back up their argument...... IT HAS OFFICIALLY GOTTEN OLD.....

Anything short of tu blowing out our Aggies, Fran will be back.... are we seriously going to have to put up with an entire off-season of Fran bashing... I mean seriously..... we get it... ya'll want him gone... but you can post as many threads & posts as you want.... it wont make a difference.....

AFTER TODAY.... I am done with this..... I know some might not care about me being done.... probably about as much as BB cares about these threads........

Hold on there pardner... when did I say I ever gave up on this team? I was running around my driveway at the end of that game freaking out. It kinda pisses me off that you try to stereotype me that way when I have nothing against the team and I've been to every game for the past 5 years. You mistake my dislike for Dennis for being against the team and thats where you'll never understand where I'm coming from. And when you make the commitment to the university and things that go on at it like I did for 4 years then come and talk to me.

Your comment of your 4 years reminds me of how some "Senior" ranking people treat brand new Airmen straight out of BMT... They talk about them like they are better than them or something... not know if in fact that brand new Airman could very well become a great leader or someone who could very well change the AF for the better.... If you feel doing time, makes you better than anyone who might not have or who hasn't done as much as you have, then IMO you have the wrong out look on a lot things that lean to that situation.

Hey dip**** I had the radio on in my truck and was listening to it in my driveway. Quit trying to assume that you know how I feel. I've never questioned anything about this team only the coaching staff. So if you'll quit saying that I did something that you obviously have no way of knowing what I did just shut it. And I just talk about the 4 years because I've worked to try and promote this university and bring it closer in the fall to get behind this team.

It pisses me off when people try to tell me how things are when they have no idea themselves.

Soo....... YOu ran from your CPU, somewhere in your house... ran around outside, turned the radio in your truck on & ran around a little while longer, turned off the radio in your truck & then ran inside to your CPU... because I do remember you posting before McGee hit Thomas in the Endzone... you must be pretty damn fast..... Maybe you should join the service.... You obviously have the fitness level of a Marine.

And I am guessing you know exactly how things are going in the locker room, with the Coaching Staff, & with every player from Alexander all the way to Yoder?

You know about as much of what is going on as my next door neighbor who just moved in from New Orleans..... Unless you would like to post a pick of you in your office in the Bright Complex....

So you were outside with your laptop by yourself.... I am just saying, because being in a chat room while having company would be pretty rude.... but then again being outside with a laptop with the radio from your truck going sounds kinda weird.... at least I have never seen anyone do that before... huh.....

And no.... I couldn't afford to attend TAMU.... I will on my own in the future... wife is helping me save up for it, but after highschool & right now... I couldn't afford it... Believe what you want....
