View Full Version : Is our bowl game situation in trouble?

I think we lost the Cotton Bowl when we lost to OU. Even if we win out, no way the cotton will take a 10-2 Aggie team over a 10-2 OU team. I believe the Holiday bowl will be on the line in the Nebraska game. My question is, what happens if we lose?
I think us Aggie fans may be in for a shock if we lose our final two games and don't even get the Alamo Bowl. I believe the Holiday would go to Nebraska and the Alamo would go to Tech who may end up with same record as us if we lose our last two games. It sucks, but even at 8-4, we may get the sun bowl or insight.com bowl.
We seriously need to BTHO NU!!!

Cotton is usually the 8-4 or 9-3 team is it not?

cotton is usually the big 12 #2 team, so most likely will be OU. We got the cotton two years ago because of 2 BCS teams in the big 12 and moving everyone else up.

Nope... it's usually for whoever is next in line after the BCS....
We got into the Cotton Bowl 2 years ago because tu & OU were both in BCS games... had tu not been picked, we would have been in the Holiday Bowl that year & tu would have played Tenn.

I believe that if we beat Nebraska, we get the Holiday bowl - we lose, then who knows where we will end up.

Unless Tech were to lose 2 more games, I just don't see a situation where we go to the alamo bowl. Like I said, the holiday should be on the line against Nebraska, but if we end up 8-4, I think Tech gets the alamo, knocking us down to something like the sun bowl. There is a possability of a big 12 team going to the Gator Bowl, but as strong as the SEC is this year, I wouldn't count on it.

We won't finish worse than 3rd in the Big XII South...
Tech still plays Oklahoma and Oklahoma State -- they will lose one of these games. Oklahoma plays Tech and OSU. I think we should all be OSU fans and hope they beat the heck out of both of them.
We just need to take care of business and worry about the bowl game after the Texas game. I expect the Holiday or Alamo Bowl...
My bet is Alamo Bowl.

but if I'm not mistaken, if we lose our next two and tech goes 1-1, doesn't that put us both at 4-4 in the big 12 and putting tech in third with their win over us?

It does, but I was going under the assumption that OU beats Tech and we beat Nebraska...
We could finish tied for 3rd place -- but we'd have a better overall conference record. Seeing as how A&M set the Alamodome attendance record for college football against Army, they'd probably pick us over Tech.
I'm still thinking we finish no worse than 3rd.

Presumption on everyone's part at this point, but my view at this hour is:
Fiesta - Texas or Nebraska (if there is an upset on Dec. 2)
Cotton - Oklahoma (Texas if they are upset on Dec. 2)
Holiday - Nebraska
Alamo - Texas A&M (especially if we beat Nebraska or Texas)
Sun - Missouri (TAMU falls to here is we lose to Nebraska)
Independence - Texas Tech
Texas - Kansas or Kansas St.
Insight - Kansas or Kansas St.
Even though the Gator Bowl will pick a Big 12 team in 2 of the next 4 years, I think they are more likely to take West Virginia/Rutgers/Louisville.

I agree. It would be a big step for our program and a good reward for our players. USC may be in the Holiday this year, too. :wow:

why do you think the holiday will take nebraska over us, especially if we beat them? Do you think their fans travel better? Probably a little but we'd still sell our allotment.

Nebraska is a better draw, and they have a coach that doesn't quit.
Husker fan travels like you have no idea.

Wade, I think the Holiday takes Nebraska, especially if USC wins the Pac-10. The Alamo would love to have us, as it guarantees a sell-out crowd. Just my feeling at this time.
Check with me again next Sunday.

Go back and check the Holiday Bowl attendence records before you make an assumption that they would take Nebraska over us.
