Got a question......

You can PM me or reply on here... but I have a question in regards to flag football....

On Lackland we play 8 on 8 & we are about to play in the Semi-Finals this
Wed....

This freakin Army team we are about to play uses a Quazi Offense.....

Where you have 2 WR's wide on each side with 2 more WR's even with the QB acting as an extra set of QB's if needed...

There can only be 1 backward pass... but this posses a problem since their QB is probably the fastest QB on base....

THis is what it looks like... We normally run a Cover 3 out of this Defense... we just give a Man on Man look... but it's zone....

FS

CB..............OLB..................MLB.......... ...........OLB...........CB
DE..........DE
WR...WR................................C.......... ......................WR...WR

WR.......................................QB....... ...............................WR

Obviously we could also go Cover 2, but that leave the middle very weak..... This is also a Zone defense....

FS...................................SS

CB...................MLB.......................... MLB.................CB

DE..........DE
WR...WR................................C.......... ......................WR...WR

WR.......................................QB....... ...............................WR

Any advise would be greatly appreciated....:gig:

I would advise removing the flag from the guy with the ball.

what would be the disadvantage of running a 2-3-3 on defense....maybe cheat up your center safety a little for more of a 2-3-1-2 look

If the the QB is so fast why don't you look like you are bringing 2 DE and then rush one while the other spies (alternate which one goes have them decide)....if you put too much pressure on him he can take off which with only 1 guy blocking you will get pressure on him....so only rush one

That and use that one rusher to push him to his weak side (to his left if he throws right). Then that other DE can drop in kinda a contain/underneath coverage position and play the QB from there, but still disrupt some passing lanes. He could even pick up the QB after the first pass if they try that kinda stuff.

And then mix it up sometimes, of course.

Oh, and another idea, is to use that first look (w/ 1 safety) but to use cover 2 some. Drop one of the corners back like a safety, bring the OLB on that side back, and then use the non-rushing DE to drop underneath the short routes (under the slant and then out into the flat).

Throwing some different coverages into things might be a way to counter some of the trick plays that that formation uses (the backwards pass and then down the field). Just an idea, but what I'm thinking is that if you drop your right CB and they throw the backwards pass to the right, then you still have your DE rushing on their right and have still have plenty of coverage on that side. Of course if they throw into that side w/ the backwards pass, it'll require some speed on the D's part to recover.

Take it for what it's worth. I've never played in a flag league w/ that kinda stuff, but I'm bored enough at work to doodle some stuff on my note pad.
