Football
Saturday, the Aggies (7-1, 3-1) match up against the Baylor Bears (4-4, 3-1) in Waco at 6pm. The last time the Aggies traveled to Waco, they came back defeated after Baylor successfully went for two in the first round of overtime for the win. Last year’s game also went into overtime with the Aggies coming out on top.
Look for the Aggies to use a rushing attack in their game plan. The Aggies have the Big 12 conference’s best rushing offense, while the Bears have the Big 12’s worst rushing defense. This should be a good match up for Texas A&M.
According to the World Sports Exchange (www.wsex.com (http://www.wsex.com/)), Texas A&M is favored by 4.5 points over Baylor this week.
The Baylor vs. A&M game is not on TV this week, but next weeks game against Oklahoma will be televised at either 11am or 7pm. If you’d like to see us play at 7pm like I do, you need to pull for both A&M and Oklahoma to win this weekend. ABC will probably televise the Missouri vs. Nebraska game at 7pm if A&M or Oklahoma loses this week.
It has been reported that quarterback Stephen McGee has been dealing with turf toe this season. He will continue to play with a little pain. Yemi Babalola and Earvin Taylor also have slight injuries and continue to play.
The replay of last week’s game vs. Oklahoma State can been seen at the Aggie All Access webpage. It can be found by clicking on a link from www.AggieAthletics.com.
Basketball
Season ticket holders should receive their tickets in the mail this week. They were mailed from Arkansas on Tuesday October 24th.
The Men’s basketball team opens its two-game exhibition schedule on Wednesday November 1st at 8pm against Division II team MidwesternState They will play Lithuanian Academy two days later on November 3rd as part of a double-header with the women. Women tip off at 6pm against Athletes in Action followed by the men at 8:30pm. in Reed Arena.
Multiple NBA scouts have been seen attending Aggie men’s basketball practices. Joseph Jones and Acie Law will lead the team this year. They are both projected as NBA draft picks after this year even though Jones as a junior has another year of eligibility.
Soccer
The Aggies dominated the game last Friday against Iowa State and came out with a 7-0 win.
The Aggie Women’s Soccer Team clinched their 3rd straight Big 12 Conference Championship this weekend with a win 4-2 win over Missouri. Although, the game was very physical on both sides, the ref decided not to keep control of the game by using yellow cards. The Women should be commended on the ability to keep their cool after a hard foul on our goal keeper allowed Missouri to score their second goal near the end of regulation.
The game Sunday was the last regular season home match for the Class of 2007. The seniors will play their last regular season conference game on Friday (tonight) against t.u. at 7pm in Austin.
The soccer team will open the Big 12 tournament on November 1st in San Antonio against the winner of Oklahoma/Baylor match.
Ashlee Pistorius was named Big 12 Offensive player of the week after last week’s games.
