I don't think that's true. On Texags there was a thread mentioning that he got a job as an assistant with an HC that was an old friend. It was a pretty small school.

He is coaching at Carson - Newman College. He went back to coach were he got his degree.

Some idiot from the press asked Morris after last year's game if he was pleased that Baylor played A&M so close, even though Baylor didn't win.

Morris responded something like, Hell no, it doesn't feel good to come close to winning. Playing A&M close and losing is like taking a shower with your sister.

I've mentioned this before, but it bears repeting....

Before the TCU / Baylor game, the press was drooling all over Morris's "daring, gutsy" decision to hire a Junior College Offensive Coordinator and implement the "spread" offense. They showed Morris at practice, wearing a big ol' black cowboy hat, talking about him being from Texas, and the kept calling him "Gun Slinger" Guy Morris. They showed some film clips from practice where he's making these real dry, sarcasstic comments to his players ("you call that a hit?", "Is that all you got?", etc.) in his best southern drawl, meanwhile talking about what a great job he is doing rebuilding Baylor (which implies they were once good?), etc. The love fest went on endlessly.

Finally the game started, and TCU proceeded to kick Baylor's tail. We never heard anymore about "Gun Slinger" after that.

It seems anytime they hype up a player or a coach like that before a game, it backfires.
