Do any of you have an opinion on this new system? My daughter loves Nintendo games and has had all the handheld systems (we trade up) and I would like to get her something more advanced for home that can use all of her existing games.
The GameCube is supposed to do this, but I don't want to buy one if the new Wii is going to be as godd as they claim.

What do you gamers think? Is it worth pre ordering?

I know it's not what you use, but for a 12 year old who is into Anime it might be pretty awesome, plus the motion sensors seem very cool for the sports games. This is one system I might even consider learning to play because of the wireless controllers and action sensors.

Will it indeed be able to play all of Nintendo's existing games as it claims? We have a wireless router so we should be good to go, right?

Thanks in advance.

yes it will have wireless, and yes it will be able to play all nintendo games for download at a small fee.

Personally, I think it could be very good. The new controller system has the ability to be one of the most innovative gaming additions in recent years. The graphics will not be nearly as good as 360 or PS3, but I hope it is considerably better than gamecube. If so, it could be a GREAT system.

dont worry about preordering.... there will likely be a good supply on day 1.

As for the console I really dont know what to think about it. It sounds really cool in theory but nobody has had one for a month to see if it has long term potential. I for one think the wiimotes will get boring/tiring after about 2 hrs of play and you will be looking to use the controller pad for most games.

Don't be so sure about there being plenty. They are set to release 2 Million in all of the Americas, not just the US, and you have no idea how competitive it gets when parents are trying to obtain a limited anything for their kids at Christmas.
If the wireless controllers get boring, the other styles will work, so we're covered, and for the extras....that's why grandparents give kids $$$$, right?

The good news is that by the time they start pushing ads at the kiddos and she knows she wants one, I should already have it in the attic, but I'll pretend to not think it's a good idea. ;)

$300.00????? + shipping??? Bollox!

It retails for $249.00

Thanks, Greg, but one of the positives about living out of the city is that everyone here is acquainted and I should know by the end of the week which retailers might hold one for me. If not, it will give me a good excuse to take a shopping day in San Antonio on the 19th. :gig:

I sure hope there are some decent games she wants to download by Christmas, though. Of course, that means I may have to "test" it a couple of times before Christmas morning. ;)

I'm sure glad my days of staying up all night putting bikes together, etc. are in the past and the torch has been passed...enjoy.

I got it!!!! Luckily for me, someone cancelled their pre-order because apparently his wife found out what he spent on a PS3 :wow: and I was in the right place at the right time, but a great many people here were left empty-handed and upset.

Watching people play it in the store last night was fun because the conrollers are so different from what the gamers are used to. They seemed to enjoy being able to motion an intended move and see the results especially as the controllers seem to be very sensitive with impressive range.

Finally, a game console that increases family activities rather than encouraging separation. This is exactly what parents have been wanting for years and I hope it ends up being as much fun as it seems.

"Someone" mentioned this morning that there was a new Nintendo system coming out. :p Just wait til the commercials hit! I'm sure she'll drive me nuts.
I can hardly wait for all of us to get to play Christmas morning. :gig:

Thanks for all the info, guys.

That thing looks pretty cool actually. I think it's going to much more of a hit then either microsoft or sony anticipated.

Graphics are not that great but in a year or two they say it will be slightly better then the original xbox which, imo, is good enough for it's purpose and target market.

I may buy a used or refurbished one in a year or so.
