I think polls that BCS uses should come out after 3 weeks. Other polls that don't affect it should make up the difference until then.

Never. The BCS poll doesn't start till midseason, so neither should any other poll. The fallacy of preseason polls is that it handicaps teams. OU and USC had a preseason advantage of Auburn and Utah in 2004, so in a way the championship was decided by preseason polls.

I think for sure a poll shouldn't come out before a game is played. That's just ridiculous. You're #1 -- and you're 0-0...good job.

Agreed.... And then your'e spanked by an unranked (who should have been ranked higher) team on the first day and your'e toast.

On that same notion the BCS probably comes out a little too late in the season. They should officially start polls that feed into the BCS around the third week.

I think they should have a preseason poll just to get all the hype, but nothing sooner than that. The polls that would mean anything would be the 2nd or 3rd week.

Oh and coolaidwade im in the top 10. OWNED

Want to see how much BS the pre-season polls are?

See Oregon State in 2001

I say after the 1st week. That's the only fair way to gague all of the teams

How is the 1st week a fair assessment?

I think that's still quite early

1st week is too early IMO, but it's 1000 times more accurate than preseason. Ask Auburn and Utah about starting out behind Clemson and Kansas State last year.
