According to The Daily Texan, the Texas Exes worked to block the tu student who wanted to prevent A&M's Yell Practice at the Capitol by scheduling a horn rally on the same night.

Zaffirini said she gladly sponsored the idea for a UT pep rally because she was unaware that it came in direct conflict with an A&M tradition. Zaffirini was later contacted by the Texas Exes Alumni Association, which informed her the group would not support the rally, she said.

Texas Exes is concerned with continuing tradition, and a rally at the Capitol would not only break A&M tradition, but conflict with the organization's new sportsmanship campaign, "Texas Fans Make Us Proud," Crook said.

That was a nice move. I think they just did it so they could throw in the "Texas Fans, Make us Proud!" thing again. I used to think it pathetic that they did that, but then I thought about it in greater detail.

Imagine being an Aggie former student. And then everywhere you turn, there is some piece of trash wearing an Aggie shirt or cap. I mean, every person without a college education is now wearing maroon & white. You can only imagine the damage control that would be forthcoming from the 12th Man Foundation & all former students. Its a very thin line to walk. "Hey, thanks for buying our gear & showing support for our team." And then on the other side, "Thanks for making the trip down to lovely College Station to watch your team play us here at Kyle. Please understand that those that aren't wearing a ring that looks like this one here on their hands aren't really Aggies, so please don't let those people influence your opinion of Kyle Field & Aggies in general."

While I do wish we had the sips National Championship, I don't envy all the crap that they have to put up with from t-shirt sips.

Very classy. That's why they are the mutually respected rival that the classless clowns at tech never will be.

I remember a friend of mine telling me about his experiences going to a A&M vs. t.u. game in Austin. He was walking to the stadium behind what we would consider some "Old Ags". They were looking around the campus at all the, shall we say, "different" people that attend t.u. and observing the general attitude of the student body when one guy remarked to the other, "What happened to the school I went to?"

I don't doubt that there are some classless/a$$hole/whatever fans at t.u. and at every school but I don't think that the majority of fans for t.u. are the really crappy ones.

I would agree too that I wouldn't want to have to worry about all their t-shirt fans either.

I would be remiss if I didn't point out the other class thing that they have done for us. When they rewrote the policy for lighting the UT Tower they darken the Tower for solemn occasions. Under solemn occasions they list the Texas A&M Bonfire Tragedy.

We officially have the south steps back. Reserving them takes a senator to sponsor the reservation. The senator that was sponsoring this guy cancelled his reservation after he failed to show up for a meeting with her.
