anybody watch it? i thought it was ok (some of the texasisms went overboard and personally it was too soap opera'y for me [reminded me of sidelines])... that said i doubt it lasts more than a year although we will know more when the ratings come out.

I just dont see people outside of texas giving a crap out the show and texas alone cant carry a show.

I didn't catch it.... but from what your saying... I might not.....

BUt your right.... no one gave a crap about the movie "The Alamo" out side of Texas.... The Movie FNL did good, but I don't think it warranted a TV series..... that's just crazy..... To carry that it would have to be soap opera'y, and while there is a bunch of drama in High School... isn't that what crap like the OC is already about?

i bet it end up being pretty popular.

yeah i know there is some drama on a football team but they are setting it up to be very much like (atleast what i would imaging the oc to be like since i never watch that show) but they already have the slut working the racism aspect (going after the star tailback [black] and "her man" [white]). they nearly got into it already. and thats just one substory.... there are plenty of others.

I was actually pleasantly surprised. I thought it would be more stereotyped, but I thought the characters were a little better or were starting to be developed after only one show.

I don't think it's relatable for Texans only. High school football and football in general are big over a huge chunk of the country.

The mayor cracked me up, too.

And Mack Brown's cameo saying "You don't need a good quarterback to win a championship" was funny.

I thought that they were using some footage from actual high school games. I know that the team they were playing was actually Austin Westlake (W on the helmet and Chaps on the unis) even though they called it Westburg or something like that. Anyone know where they got the footage? Westlake hasn't played Pflugerville (basis of the home team) this year.

Didn't realize it was based on Phlugerville. Caught the Chaps thing, though.

When the mayor told the qb to listen to Black Sabbath cuz it would make him mean, I cracked up.

It was ok. Way too predictable, though. I mean, cmon, star QB gets hurt with the game on the line and the backup comes in and leads the team in a comeback victory. Can we get any more cliched than that?

So it's a cross between Varsity Blues & the actual Friday Night Lights......

They have been filming some episodes at Pflugerville High School over the last month or two. Students at PHS were extras in all the footage shot here.

Now that makes the show that much cooler...P'ville you get in on any of the action?

Nope, they do most of the shooting during the day when I am at work. The few times I have been over there when they are filming, traffic is a bitch b/c they have all of Pecan St (the main road through P-Ville) shut down.

Reviving this one. I've watched the first three. While not great, and horribly predictable, its still not too bad.

Anyone else still watching?

i'm still watching and really like it. i think they started the series too late with so many shows on right now. people might not want to take on a new show.

I'm only watching 2 right now, Friday Night Lights and Battlestar Galactica. I never did get into Lost, The Nine was just too weird, and couldn't really find anything else that seemed interesting.

i wish i only had two. I have:

Mon: Prison Break, Heroes
Tuesday: Friday Night Lights, Veronica Mars
Wednesday: Jericho, Lost, South Park
Thursdays: Standoff, The Office, Greys Anatomy
Friday: Battlestar Galactica (my favorite)
Sat: We know how Saturday rolls. Sunup to Sundown, baby!
Sun: Hopefully San Diego is on, if not, just matter of factly watch Houston lose.

Although, in my defense, I have a DVR and not a real job so every day between noon and 5 o'clock I probably do more outside then most people do all month. It's easy to veg all night in front of the TV when you ran 8 miles two hours before.

Damn, you're a TV watching fool!!! :)

I read alot of books, so I get most of my entertainment that way.

Battlestar Galactica is also my favorite. I was skeptical at first. Didn't watch until right before this season started. Finally broke down and got the first season from Netflix, then immediatly got season 2, then season 2.5. I was hooked. Watched all the web episodes leading up the the premiere. I'm not usually home Friday nights, so I'm glad I got DVR! :)

Yeah, I wish most people know that BG is the best show out there.

And I read about two books a week. :( I need a life. I use to have one but all my friends are bar guys. I woke up one day and said, "I'll go to bars on the weekend but not every weeknight as well" and then just stopped. Now I'm bored all the time.

Yeah, I'm not much into bars on the weeknights either. I'm about with you on the two books a week. I'll watch a little TV, but nothing much interests me. I don't normally come home and sit at the computer, either. I do that all day at work, and its usually the last thing I want to do when I get home.

Right now, I'm on the third book in Ted Bell's Hawke series, Pirate. Its pretty damn good so far. If you haven't read them, I'd suggest picking them up. Start with Hawke, his first. If you like Cussler, you'll probably like Ted Bell.
